Announcing the first OPUS CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
for 2024 Performances
Purpose:
a. To provide young musicians with a rarely available opportunity to experience playing alongside professional musicians in a professional string orchestra setting;
b. To enrich young musicians’ experience on performing genres and compositions of high-quality professional string orchestra music;
c. To expand young musicians’ music endeavor with diverse string orchestra repertoire and uplift their music learning interest with closely guided mentorship from a high quality and skilled professional musicians.
Who:
Professionals – As invited by Music Director Mara Gallagher (contact [email protected]) and Assistant Music Director Daryl Silberman.
Students – Violin, Viola, Cello, and Contrabass. Advanced can be defined as the ability to learn the music to play it at a professional level. OPUS students have priority.
Limited number of seats!
Requirements: (Students and Professionals may play in one or more concerts.)
Attending ALL 3 rehearsals scheduled for each concert. Each rehearsal time is 2.5 hours. The rehearsal is at North Central College or a Church in Naperville. Concert times are March 2nd, May 11th, and one or two more tbd. More information on concert schedules and venue here.
Requires at least one Teacher nomination letter and submission of a recent (within 3 months) performance video. There is a nominal fee of $100 per concert rehearsal. Scholarships are available.
Each of the professionals are paid by an honorarium per concert.
Venues for Performances:
3 or 4 concerts in 2024, before November 30, 2024. Each concert is one hour at selected Naperville and its surrounding area’s larger senior residences, veterans
center, and/or community fair.
