OPUS awarded 54 scholarships TO CAMPERS OF 2005 OPUS STRINGS CAMP! Congratulations to all recipients. Special Kiwanis Awards to: J.D. Andrade, violin; Katarina Schmitt, Violin; Cassidy Stirtz, viola; Maggie Parker, Cello of ECCO Strings; and to Jessican Tuan, violin; Katie Sullivan, viola; and Tom Kenny, cello of Vivid Vibrations. Congratulations to all!!

OPUS awarded 45 scholarships TO CAMPERS OF 2004 OPUS MASTER STRINGS CAMP! Congratulations to all recipients. Special Awards to: J.D. Andrade, violin; Katarina Schmitt, Violin; Cassidy Stirtz, viola; and Maggie Parker, Cello by Kiwanis Club Evenings; To Katie Sullivan, viola by Lions Club Noon; and to Felix Chang by East Meets West Music Arts.

OPUS has awarded Scholarship to more than fifty (50) recipients at $200 each to Master Strings Music Camp 2003. Congratulations to all!!

Purpose:
To encourage students' continuation of training in string and orchestral music
Amount:
New in 2003 - $200 per student to subsidize students' cost to Master Strings Music Camp in August of 2003.
Application and Award Time:
In the spring of the school year
Number of Awardees:
Open, depending on the number of qualified candidates and the financial situation of OPUS at the time of evaluation
Award Criteria (The Scholarships are principally for NCUSD203 students):
1.The student has been/is at present, making a positive contribution to the school orchestra program.
2.The student demonstrates a desire for self-improvement.
3.The student is planning to continue in the orchestra program in school or plans to continue music training in a type of music activity.
4.The student is recommended by the school orchestra instructor for a scholarship.
5.The student will complete a short application for the scholarship monies. The form is available from the orchestra instructor. The student is required to write a short critique of his/her experience at the music camp, school, or other music activities for review by OPUS and the orchestra instructor.
Award Procedure:
1.The orchestra instructor shall make the personal information anonymous to OPUS before OPUS make its decision. The recipient(s) of OPUS Scholarship shall be determined by the OPUS Executive Board and the Chair of the Recognition Committee based on students' applications submitted.
2.The recipient(s) of OPUS Scholarship shall be selected and announced as early as possible so the recipient(s) may include the OPUS scholarship(s) in his/her consideration of his/her intended music activity.
3.The OPUS Scholarship recipient shall deduct $200 for the payment of Master Strings Music Camp at the time the payment is due.
