The OPUS Equality Statement: OPUS has a history of equal opportunity and equitable treatment of all persons. We recognize true harmony cannot be achieved until each and every one of us feels valued, supported and heard. Let’s continue our work together as musicians and stand united in helping one another. Recognizing a kaleidoscopic range of underrepresented music and musicians, OPUS has instituted an “Underrepresented Composers” project since 2020. The Chamber Music Camp will continue to prioritize the chamber repertoire of underrepresented composers, further researching and developing a personal, immersive, and passionate bond with some infrequently-performed repertoires. We encourage underrepresented students to participate to foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging in the performing arts. As Chicago area demographics have trended towards an older population, OPUS also prioritizes presentation of its high-quality chamber music to seniors, veterans, and other under-served community groups.
OPUS (Orchestra Parents/Patrons’ United Support) Association is an IRS 501(c)3 charitable, not-for-profit volunteer organization with a mission to stimulate and sustain students’ interest in chamber and orchestral music. The signature OPUS program is its annual Chamber Music Camp for young musicians.
