He got into this academic spotlight because he won 1st place of an essay contest.\u00a0\u00a0I am impressed that he organized a benefit concert and how he described how we do things for the right cause:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cPurpose-driven leaders unite individuals with like-minded peers, and set them on the right path by helping them find their own unique strengths, allowing them to fully devote themselves to a unified cause.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Last year Calvin organized a benefit concert that included various local student musicians, raising funds for the Red Cross following Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.\u00a0\u00a0He also helped found a UNICEF chapter at Waubonsee to unite students who expressed an interest in \u201cmaking an impact in the lives of other children around the world.\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/napervillesun.suntimes.com\/2014\/10\/10\/academic-spotlight-calvin-chu-earns-first-place-essay-contest\/\" target=\"_blank\">Read Calvin&#8217;s story&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am touched by\u00a0Calvin Chu&#8217;s\u00a0story recently published on the Naperville Sun.\u00a0\u00a0Calvin is a 17 year old student at Waubonsie Valley High School.\u00a0\u00a0He plays the violin, is one of our OPUS campers and has participated in many OPUS organized community concerts.
