Her recent performances include <i>C.M. von Weber\u2019s Andante e Rondo <\/i><i>ungarese<\/i><i> for viola and orchestra and <\/i><i>Donbrika<\/i> <i>Tabakova\u2019s<\/i><i> The Court Jester <\/i><i>Amareu<\/i><i>: Suite in Old Style with orchestra. <\/i>Tina has been active at chamber music festivals in Taiwan, America, Sweden, England, China, and the western Mediterranean and Adriatic Sea. She was principal violist in Commonwealth Cantata and London Firebird Orchestra. She performs with the Northbrook Symphony, as part of the Bach Cantata Vespers Series at Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest as well as other various solo and chamber music settings. She has played chamber music at the Blossom Music Festival and was the violinist of Trio Caprice. She performs with the New Philharmonic and the DuPage Opera Theatre while maintaining a private violin studio in Naperville. She is an accomplished educator, and has two adult children who are also wonderful musicians. Faculty: North Central College. B.B.A., University of Notre Dame. For 10 years, Mr. Green taught at Naperville North High School and was one of the directors at Western Suburban Youth Symphony Orchestra. He soloed throughout Europe and Asia with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra and taught at DePaul University and VanderCook College. Teaching since1970, Mr. Lecher has published two books\u2014<i>Violin Technique: the Manual, How to Master and Viola Technique: the Manual, How to Master, <\/i>selling in over 32\u00a0countries. Two singular honors have been received by Drew. Firstly, that of his Stradivarius violin, c.1721, being named after him in the Doring book, &#8220;<i>How Many Strads<\/i>&#8221; (rev\u2019d. ed.), and secondly, the honor of being awarded by Illinois ASTA, Studio Teacher of the Year, 2009. She also conducts DuPage Youth Symphony Orchestra\u2019s entry level orchestra and is a mentor for first year teachers in Illinois through the Illinois Education Association. While teaching at Salem High School in 2011, she was nominated \u201c50 Directors who Make a Difference\u201d by the School Band &amp; Orchestra Magazine for the State of Oregon. Ms. Lekas regularly performs chamber music with the <i>Pilgrim Chamber Players<\/i>, and the <i>Lekas<\/i><i> Trio<\/i>. She also is co-concertmaster of the Light Opera Works orchestra. She previously was a member of the New York City Opera National Company, the Sarasota Opera, and the Illinois Philharmonic. Nina trained with the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. She spent ten summers with the American Institute of American Studies orchestra in Graz, Austria, and participated with the Spoleto Festival orchestra in both Italy and Charleston, SC. Nina is an enthusiastic Suzuki violin teacher. She has taught at the Suzuki Music School of Lincoln Park for the past ten years and is registered through Book 7. WITTRIG (Violin, Viola)<\/strong>: <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Janis K. Wittrig is a teacher in the Suzuki Method and an Instructor\/Mentor for Paul Rolland String Pedagogy. She has been a clinician at workshops throughout the continental United States, as well as in Hawaii, Canada and Singapore. Ms. Wittrig has served as Violin Coordinator for the SAA Biennial Conference. Janis performs with the DuPage Symphony Orchestra and was its Concertmaster between 2006 through 2013. Former YSDP conductor Meng-Kong Tham recognized Ms. Wittrig for her \u201cpursuit of excellence in teaching\u2026(and) a record five outstanding concertmasters.\u201d \u00a0Janis is a faculty member at the Western Springs School of Talent Education and maintains a private studio. She received a BA in Violin Performance and an MS in Music Education from the University of Illinois.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2791 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/napopus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kate-Carter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"151\" height=\"146\" srcset=\"https:\/\/napopus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kate-Carter.jpg 620w, https:\/\/napopus.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Kate-Carter-300x290.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 151px) 100vw, 151px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>CATHLEEN CARTER (Violin)<\/strong>:\u00a0Dr. Kate Carter enjoys a varied career as a violinist, teacher, lecturer, and adjudicator. She is a founding member of Blue Violet Duo, whose critically acclaimed 2018 debut album, American Souvenirs, received a grant from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, and was selected as WFMT\u2019s \u201cNew Release of the Day.\u201d The duo has been heard at Weill Auditorium at Carnegie Hall, the Dame Myra Hess series, and on radio stations across the US. Stringendo Magazine wrote that \u201c[The duo] excels at both extremes, from the nuanced and restrained to the incandescent and extravagant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kate has toured internationally with orchestras including Camerata Chicago (2013) and the Lucerne Festival Academy (2009). She has appeared with ensembles including the Lyric Opera Orchestra, Music of the Baroque, Chicago Philharmonic, Fulcrum Point New Music Ensemble, Access Contemporary Music, International Chamber Artists, the Grant Park Symphony, and the Elmhurst Symphony, where she is the Assistant Concertmaster. Kate holds a doctorate in violin performance from Northwestern University and a Master of Music from the Eastman School of Music, and she teaches at the Northwestern Music Academy and Lake Forest College. After winning the Farwell Scholarship of 1982 and at the invitation of Aarond Rosand, she studied at the Academie Internationale in France with Maurice Gendron\u00a0 and earned the Certificate du Stage.\u00a0 Further studies included coaching with Frank Miller, former principal cellist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He studied with Ronald Feldman in Boston; at Juilliard with Joel Krosnick in the Columbia-Juilliard joint program (Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Statistics, Columbia; Master of Music, Juilliard); and with Frans Helmerson as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kronbergacademy.de\/en\/education\/students\/\">Young Soloist<\/a> at the Kronberg Academy (Professional Studies) and at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin (Artist Diploma).\u00a0 He has been mentored by many of the leading musicians of our time, including Daniel Barenboim, Christoph Eschenbach, Andr\u00e1s Schiff, Steven Isserlis, David Geringas, Gary Hoffman, Laurence Lesser, and Paul Katz.<\/p>\n<p>Ungerleider has been the recipient of top prizes from the Koussevitzky Young Artist Awards and the National Federation of Music Clubs. In 2015 he was awarded the Frank Huntington Beebe Grant. He is also a previous winner of the International Crescendo Music Awards, and from competitions hosted by the Harvard Musical Association, and the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition of the Chamber Music Foundation of New England. Earlier, he performed the solo cello part to Strauss\u2019s Don Quixote with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, and two of Witold Lutoslawski\u2019s works for cello and piano on stage at Orchestra Hall in the presence of the composer. After that, she went to study piano performance with Menahem Pressler at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she completed her master\u2019s and doctorate degrees. Dr. Chou has given numerous solo recitals and appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra, Symphony of the Mountains, and Taipei Symphony Orchestra. She also enjoys playing chamber music recitals. Between 2010 and 2019, she traveled extensively as an American cultural ambassador to teach and perform with Trio Chicago and Friends. Dr. Chou is a devoted teacher.
